REVIEW : 71836 Arc Dragon of Focus

Today I will review this ninjago set. I was very intrigued by it's desing and colour choices. At first glance I thought that they were crazy using tan and purple mixed together but the set grew a lot on me the more I looked at it so I decided to give it a chance. Besides thay would make an awesome display together with Thunderfang. I hope this will be helpful for anyone who wants to purchase this set for their collection.

Pros :

• It's a good build overall, the shaping is really nice and the colours do work together suprisingly.

• The 2 molded heads and the wings are fantastic and such great exclusive parts.

• It has an amazing minifigure selection. It's seems like they give you many characters to have a big battle. I love that you get 2 of the forbidden five and half of the basic ninja team in their full new suits. You also get Pixal!

• The shrine to the side is a nice bonus, for the storm village per say, and offers a nice play experince.

• The spinner is also a nice plus, we don't get them in large sets like this often.

• I like the function with the power blast in the front, I don't think we saw that before. It's unique. Also the flapping wings are nice.

  
  

Cons :

• The price is high. The piece count isn't enough to justify it. The whole set looks like there's enough going on but I wanted it to be at least 15$ - € less.

• There's some exposed technic pieces used by the mechanism for the wings and I think it looks a bit out of place and ugly.

• There's not a lot of posing you cen do with this guy. The back legs are stuck in one position and the front legs can't do enough. The tail is also small so it's like a dragon canon if you think about it.

Overall thoughts :

I think this is an good Ninjago set but it definately has more flaws than Thunderfang. I love the coloursceme and the design. This is the second ninjago dragon with 2 heads and it's a great idea. The colours work great and it looks nice. The playfeatures work well and it's definately a great toy. The minifugres are a great selection as well, one of the greatest in the first half of this year. But it's a bit pricey and I don't think it's retail price is fair. With a 20% discount it's definitely going to be a great deal.
