REVIEW : 71809 Egalt the master dragon

I will start doing reviews from the sets that i buy from now on, and i will share my opinion here, on brickset and youtube of course. I am a big lego friends fan and i also buy ninjago and dreamzzz so these are the primary themes that you are going to see for the next reviews. I hope this will be helpful for anyone who wants to purchase some new sets for their collection. Now let's start with my first review of a ninjago set that i got recently, and i had my eye on for a while.

Set : 71809 - Egalt the master dragon

Theme : Ninjago

Pieces : 532

Minifigs : 5

RRP : $69.99 / €69.99

Pros :

  • Nice minifig selection

  • I love the large wings and the colour and the design

  • The head is excellent and beautifully sculpted

  • Cute sidebuild for some additional action

  • Basic but good dragon body, it gets the job done

Cons :

  • The minifigs bump up the price in my opinion and i don't think that this set needed that many

  • I don't like how the head doesn't go upwards and downwards as expected but sideways

  • The price is really not that great. In my country this set is 75€ and i bought it for 63€, and im still not convinced that it's worth it. This would make a great 50-55€/$ set with a loss of a minifig per say.

Overall thoughts :

I wanted to get this set since i watched the first part of dragons rising season 2 tv show. I fell in love with Egalt as a character and i liked his interaction with the ninja. It's a nice ninjago dragon and a unique one in this coloursceme and style. It looks good on display and the figures are great. But for this price i don't think it's really worth it considering that some years ago we got bigger dragons than this for cheaper and this quality as well. I think that lego is really asking a bit much for the retail price but if you can find it on 20% or more clearance you will be satisfied.
