Today I'm going to review this Elves set because i have add it to my collection pretty recently even thought it's been released 9 years ago. I thought it's going to be a great video for the anniversary of the Elves theme as well. It was one of my biggest dreams to get this set since i saw it 9 years ago on a lego catalog and on promotional videos on youtube. So for my birthday this year i have decided to buy it from brickling in used condition since it's really expensive in sealed condition.
Set : 41180 - Ragana's Magic Shadow Castle
Theme : Elves
Pieces : 1014
Minidolls : 3
RRP (Back in 2016) : $99.99 / €119.99

Pros :
Excelent building, so many cute details all around, full elves vibes
Great building techniques and parts usage
The lavender and purple colours are so aesthetic and they give an evil gothic vibe
The top of the tower with the dragon head and the dragon egg surrounded by all these "wispy" is a lego masterpiece that we are missing in todays villain based sets
The minidolls are amazing ans super detailed, the elves have these amazing hoods and capes and Ragana is just majestic and fabulous looking. We need minidoll like these in today's sets.
The price back in the day was great considering the number of pieces and overall build
Overall thoughts :
This was my dream set all these years and now that i finally have it i don't have any complaint of course. It's a beautiful set, good for playing different stories and an amazing display piece. The elves theme was so ahead of it's time and we didn't deserve it back then. All the little details such as the crystals and the mossy steps, the mechanism for the door, the chandeliar, the stained glass window, the banners, the interior everything is just perfect. Also as i said the elves minidolls are so ahead of their time and we don't get that level of detail in today's minidoll lines. This set will stand the test of time for many years to come and it's a standout in lego's catalog in the 2010s era.
